Odawara Castle’s highlights

Odawara Castle has many things to see, so I will briefly explain some of them in pictures

First of all is Akagane Mon

Akagane Mon is one of the important gates of Odawara Castle, and it was the gate that guarded the front of Ninomaru.

You can enter the gate in some days.

Next is Tokiwagi Mon

Tokiwagi Mon was the most important gate in Odawara Castle and was guarding the front of Honmaru.

They built the gate at a right angle to make it harder for enemies to attack.

The last thing I will introduce is the castle tower, which is also the face of Odawara Castle.

The stone walled building is 27.2m tall and ranks seventh among the castles with castle towers nationwide.

Inside is a museum where you can see Odawara Castle’s history and valuable materials. The explanation is written in English, so you can see it with peace of mind.

The view from the top of the castle tower is also superb, and if it is clear, you can see Sagami Bay and mountains.

The view from the top of the castle tower is spectacular. On a clear day, you can see Sagami Bay and the surrounding mountains.
I have also posted a video of the view from the top floor on YouTube, so please check it out below 👇

You can buy it at the ticket counter and the museum shop inside the castle tower.

It is a great souvenir and a unique experience you can only enjoy in Japan.

Note: Some castle stamps are available only for a limited time, so they may be sold out depending on the day.

Summary

Odawara Castle is a must-visit spot when visiting Odawara.
Although the castle has been reconstructed, the site is spacious, beautiful, and well worth visiting.
